I am not based in St. Thomas, and I would rather say so at the top than let a page like this suggest otherwise. YXU Studio is one person in London. One market with London, but not one map

Statistics Canada counts St. Thomas as part of the London census metropolitan area, along with Central Elgin, Southwold and several Middlesex municipalities. For any business that will drive to the other city for a job, the two are one market, and the competition sits on both sides of the city limit.

Going the other way is the harder half. If you travel to customers, you can add London to the service areas on your Google Business Profile, which shows London customers that you go there. Do not expect it to move you up the map, though: independent testing by Sterling Sky found that map rankings follow the address the profile was verified at, and the service area changes only what is displayed. London work is more likely to come through the regular search results, from a page about your London work if you genuinely take jobs there and can say something specific about them, plus reviews and links from other websites. None of it guarantees a position, and nobody can honestly promise one.

More people in St. Thomas who do not know you yet

Statistics Canada's 2021 Census counted 42,840 people in St. Thomas, up 10.1% from 2016. Volkswagen's PowerCo battery-cell plant is being built in the city, and as of July 2026 its first production was targeted for 2027, with up to 3,000 people expected to work there directly.

I will not guess what that means for any one business, because plans of that size change. The safe part is simpler: someone who has just moved to town for work has no neighbour to ask for a plumber, a dentist or a good lunch spot. They search, and their first impression of you is a map listing and the page it links to.

That is why a St. Thomas site should say St. Thomas plainly.
