Sarnia websites, from plant contractors to Grand Bend
Forest City Green
Two things set Sarnia-Lambton websites apart. Contractors who work inside the refineries and chemical plants need capability and safety pages in plain text, and businesses along Lambton Shores and Grand Bend need hours that change with the summer. I work on both from London, about an hour away on Highway 402, by phone and email.

The Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership counts three refineries and more than 35 related chemical facilities in the area. It calls the complex Canada's second-largest cluster of petrochemical and refining companies and names it the largest industrial sector locally. If your customers are those plants rather than homeowners, the website has a different job. It has to show whoever checks you out, in plain text, what you can do and how safely you do it.
The pages I would build for a contractor who works inside the plants:
- A capabilities page for each kind of work, written out as text rather than locked in a brochure PDF that is awkward to read on a phone
- Your safety program and the certifications and training your crews hold, named in full rather than shown as a row of logos
- The sites and parts of the county you already work in, where your contracts let you say so
- Crew size and equipment, stated as numbers rather than adjectives
- A careers page, if you hire for shutdowns and turnarounds, listing the trades you need and how to apply
How a Sarnia build runs from London
I work alone from London, about an hour east on Highway 402, and I will not list a Sarnia address to look local. For a Sarnia business the call, the homepage preview, the build and every change after launch run by phone and email.
Which Lambton towns and communities should you name?
Lambton County is made up of 11 municipalities, and Sarnia had 72,047 of the 128,154 people counted in the Lambton census division in 2021, so for most businesses the city is where the searches come from. After it come St. Clair, Lambton Shores, Plympton-Wyoming and Petrolia, with Point Edward right next door.
The municipality's name is often not the one on your customer's address. Bright's Grove is part of the City of Sarnia. St. Clair Township's own notices refer to the communities of Corunna, Mooretown and Courtright. Lambton Shores runs recreation and community centres in Grand Bend, Forest, Thedford, Arkona and Port Franks, and Plympton-Wyoming's facility addresses read Wyoming, ON and Camlachie, ON.
So list the municipalities you drive to as service areas on your Business Profile, and name the communities inside them on one service-area page on your website. The local SEO page covers how the two fit together.
Lambton Shores, Grand Bend and seasonal hours
Lambton Shores grew 11.7% between the 2016 and 2021 Census counts, from 10,631 to 11,876 people, the fastest growth of any of Lambton's 11 municipalities. Its own community profile says campers and cottagers arrive in numbers every summer, and its beaches page says Grand Bend Beach draws thousands of visitors a year.
A seasonal business has more details that go out of date: opening hours, the dates you open and close for the year, and services that only run in some months. Each one needs to read the same on your Business Profile and on your website. A Care plan handles the website side of those edits within two business days; the Business Profile is yours to update, and I can tell you what to change. What each plan costs is on the pricing page.

The Business Enterprise Centre of Sarnia-Lambton gives free, confidential advice to people starting a business and to existing small businesses. It is run jointly by the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, the County of Lambton and the Province of Ontario. Its own marketing resources tell owners to claim and optimize their Google Business Profile, which is the same first step I would give you.
The Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce, a not-for-profit on Christina Street North, keeps a member directory. If you are a member, that listing is one more place your business name, address and phone number appear, so enter them exactly as they are on your Business Profile.

Questions people ask
Will a web designer in London hurt my rankings in Sarnia?
No. Google says local results depend mainly on relevance, distance and prominence: how well your Business Profile matches the search, how far you are from the person searching, and how well known your business is (the line that introduces the three now calls the last one popularity). Distance is measured from your business, not from your designer. Be wary of anyone selling their Sarnia postal code as the reason you will rank. What does count, including your Business Profile and your reviews, is covered in the Google Maps answer linked from this page.
Can you build a website for a business in Point Edward, Petrolia or Corunna?
Yes, the same way as for a Sarnia business. Point Edward and Petrolia are municipalities of their own, and Corunna is a community in St. Clair Township. Your Google Business Profile can list up to 20 service areas within about two hours' drive, so add the municipalities you go to and name Corunna on your website's service-area page.
Is the price different for a Sarnia business?
A one-time $499 for one to three pages, $899 for four to six, or $1,399 for seven to ten, in Canadian dollars. Hosting is free. The domain costs $15 to $25 a year, paid to the registrar, and you own it. Care plans from $49 a month are optional.
Do you offer SEO in Sarnia without a monthly contract?
Yes. Local SEO and AI search optimization come with every build at no monthly fee, including matching your site's details to your Google Business Profile. Care Plus at $99 a month is optional and can be cancelled anytime. It adds one Business Profile post a month and a new service or area page each quarter. Nobody can guarantee a ranking.
